Human Machine Interface (HMI), in the form of console displays and infotainment systems, is now gaining added momentum due to the growing need for users to stay connected at all times. HMI integrates the controls of various automotive functions and is becoming a communication bridge between the driver and the car, connecting information from the outside world and transforming the vehicle into a well-equipped technology carrier. Luxoft [NYSE:LXFT] is a leading provider of software development services and innovative IT solutions to a global client base and is also emerging as a pioneer in out-of-the-box HMI tools. “We provide pure HMI design and full-cycle development of automotive HMI, beginning with ideation, prototyping, and testing,” says Georg Doll, Managing Director-Automotive at Luxoft. “We also embed essential, future-ready technologies and provide the necessary subject matter expertise to help clients build their vehicles.”

The company offers a wide range of embedded software for in-vehicle infotainment and telematics systems, digital instrument clusters, and heads-up displays. Luxoft enhances the innovation arena by driving the advancement of computer vision, increased reality, situation-aware HMI, and mobile phone connectivity, and as a member of the GENIVI Alliance (a non-profit automotive industry cooperative) the company is actively shaping the next generation of connectivity standards.

Luxoft provides innovative technologies that help manufacturers apply embedded, tethered, and integrated connectivity solutions that guarantee seamless device integration. The company’s Populus Suite is a complete tool chain that aids HMI design and development as well as the deployment of automotive user interfaces. Populus was designed to help Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier1s to deliver superior client interfaces with brief time-to-market, while empowering effective programming lifecycle administration without composing a solitary line of project code. “Populus is a runtime engine with a graphics framework built upon a concept called Database Driven Human Machine Interface,” adds Doll. “The runtime software component interprets the HMI database, receives user input, and communicates with the applications that generate the graphic car user interface on the display.”

We provide HMI design, full-cycle development of automotive HMI, from ideation to prototyping to production development and street testing

Recently, Luxoft assisted one of their prominent clients by implementing a unique HMI interface, minimizing the complexity of HMI development and increasing displace in the instrument cluster area. The client was able to experiment with the HMI, implementing different concepts, reducing their time to market, and revolutionizing perceptions one year earlier than planned.

Luxoft’s Computer Vision and Augmented Reality solution is a combination of software framework and engineering services. The software framework is optimized for embedded hardware that helps cost-effectively implement a wide range of in-car Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving functionality. Incorporating, pattern recognition, image processing, and real-time signal processing, the feature-rich and robust solution encompasses augmented navigation, advanced parking assistance, and adaptive cruise control—as well as driver infographics and lane keeping. “We implemented our own algorithm for detection and use it to overlay navigation information. The prototype is integrated into existing IVI systems that are on the road today,” he adds.

The company has recently acquired Symtavision, a provider of automotive software tools and consulting services that focuses on scheduling analysis, architecture optimization, and timing verification while addressing the need to have under-the-hood systems operating safely and securely in real time.

Luxoft’s dedicated R&D team continuously drives the roadmaps for their platforms by focusing on the features that are not just technology-driven but derived from business needs and evolving business models in the industries they serve. “In the future, we want to continue to be a company that is recognized for excellence, while serving as a trusted advisor and partner,” concludes Doll.

Partnership bears fruit: Luxoft and emotion3D showcase virtual validation possibilities at CES 2024

Wednesday, January 03, 2024

ZUG, Switzerland— Luxoft, a DXC Technology Company (NYSE: DXC) and emotion3D have built a strategic partnership to jointly develop and supply automotive solutions and services for in-cabin monitoring (occupant and driver monitoring). These solutions will enable clients to reduce costs and fulfill the requirements of new regulations.

Driver and occupant monitoring systems (DMS/OMS) increase road safety and user experience for vehicle occupants. They rely on complex algorithms calculating hundreds of signals that must be tested and validated using ground truth (GT) data. Emotion3D develops DMS/OMS algorithms and Luxoft is an independent partner for validation. Luxoft’s latest approach of testing such algorithms using synthetic GT data within its Virtual Validation Toolchain will be demonstrated at CES 2024.

Florian Seitner, CEO of emotion3D said, “When I saw Luxoft’s OMS Virtual Validation Toolchain for the first time, I was impressed by the quality. The virtual videos are almost indistinguishable from real-world videos.”

Luz G. Mauch, Luxoft Executive Vice President of Automotive added, “Luxoft’s OMS Virtual Validation Toolchain significantly accelerates the validation process with perfect GT data. Our strategic partnership with emotion3D is a great opportunity to show how this is realized.”

By developing standardized interfaces, Luxoft’s GT data and emotion3D's DMS/OMS data can be used directly for automated KPI analysis in future automotive projects. The first results of the partnership will be shown at CES 2024. In an interactive presentation, you can experience how virtual validation and KPI analysis work under real conditions by selecting data sets yourself using the toolchain.
