An air of profoundness earned through experience and expertise surrounds Michael Wilkes as he illustrates the various pain points that construction companies encounter. A overabundance of technology solutions for the building industry, Wilkes points to information silos in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) realm as the root cause for delays in completing construction projects. Wilkes cites that collaboration between disparate departments is crucial for builders—an area that his company MasterGraphics has truly mastered and is making rapid strides in. As the president and CEO of MasterGraphics, he emphasizes the importance of developing efficient and consistent workflows throughout the organization. Greg Barmore, sales manager, MasterGraphics, adds that customers need to fully leverage the capabilities of their software applications. “Most companies are unaware of the capabilities that their software tools have. We help them understand their tools and opportunities to run their projects better,” says Barmore.

As a platinum partner of Autodesk, MasterGraphics leverages Autodesk’s construction and AEC-related software to enable building information modeling (BIM). With clients being eager to share their BIM models across the enterprise. “MasterGraphics provides a single source of all project data from conception to construction that stakeholders can access in a secure and timely manner,” mentions Barmore. This single source of data enables the creation of building models to enable visualization for clients, stakeholders, and others involved in the project. Wilkes refers to MasterGraphics StudioMGI group for project visualization. With clear and accurate visualization there's no lost bids or business due to miscommunication or misunderstanding. “Our Studio team’s forte is to create the best visualization experience using the latest technology, giving our clients a clear understanding of their project,” states Wilkes.

Unmasking the inefficiencies for clients typically starts with a customer engagement process, which Barmore calls design process assessment (DPA). Through DPA, MasterGraphics understands the company’s workflow and the technology used, following which, MasterGraphics develops and optimizes additional workflows according to industry best practices. MasterGraphics focuses on the biggest cost and time savings for its clients, who are then presented with a plan that addresses in detail areas of their organization that are under performing.

One among the several instances in which MasterGraphics assisted its clients, was a quarrying company running material recovery operations, which faced major challenges in measuring and quantifying the mined materials, impeding its expansion plans. Despite deploying drones to collect material data, the company had little success as its software was unable to extract the right information from large data files. MasterGraphics came onboard and performed an in depth DPA. MasterGraphics was able to implement a workflow designed to enable drones to leverage different point-cloud tools like the Civil 3D, Recap 360, and Infraworks 360. Assistance from MasterGraphics helped the client design a subdivision utilizing Civil 3D for a quarry, which simplified its operations.

The company is investing resources to assist customers understand the advanced BIM features of Autodesk’s latest AEC Collection. With Autodesk setting the benchmark for BIM, there is palpable excitement around the new highs that MasterGraphics aims to reach in redefining collaboration in the AEC arena.
