Intuitive Payment Model to Digitize the Public Sector

Adam Wilkins, GM
Since the Covid-19 outbreak, an increasing number of consumers and companies across industries have adopted various contactless, digital payment methods to facilitate day-to-day transactions and avoid the risk of contracting the virus. Facilitating this rapid shift in consumer behavior is the rise of payment platforms such as Venmo, Paypal, Apple Pay, and more. They served as the frontline enablers to help further democratize and simplify the concept of contactless transactions, allowing more consumers to make payments with ease.

However, such transactions are mostly known to happen when consumers are dealing with a private entity—as they are tech-savvy on every count. But, given the pandemic scenario, wouldn’t it be ideal for the public sector to jump on the digital tech bandwagon and harbinger a new age of digitally-driven payments? Not only would it help them in streamlining revenue collection but will provide a safe way for the public to pay their obligations in a completely contactless way.

Established to assist government agencies to achieve that is nCourt. Since its inception in 2002, this leading independent payment solution provider has been focusing on developing robust payment solutions with an intention to improve the engagement between citizens and the government. “We provide a SaaS, value-added, non-integrated, stand-alone solutions that helps court systems and other government agencies increase the efficiency of their revenue collection and enhance citizen engagement,” says Adam Wilkins, GM at nCourt. “We can also integrate our payment solutions seamlessly to clients’ existing back office systems, which helps reduce workload and improve efficiency.” Clients can use this innovative solution to transition their onsite collection needs into a virtual and automated collection workflow, eliminating the need for conventional cash payment modes.

nCourt provides citizens with various payment channels—customized websites, POS terminals, bilingual agent call centers, and 24x7 IVR system—that allow them to pay citations, fines, fees, parking tickets, taxes, and utilities. They can do so 24/7 with their credit or debit cards, ACH payments, or other digital payment platforms such as PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and more. nCourt’s web-based payment channel offers easy-to-use web pages that help users to make payments online via any internet-enabled devices. The company also provides chip-based, EMV-enabled, and PCI-compliant POS systems to clients that facilitates a fast and reliable contactless payment experience onsite.

What gives nCourt and edge over the competition is its U.S.-based, bilingual, and professionally staffed call centers that allows citizens to make payments through telephone calls.

Located in Alpharetta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee, these call centers are equipped with live agents with longstanding experience in the industry to assist users with their queries and payment requests. nCourt also offers an IVR-based payment channel, aiming to help users make ‘super-quick’ payments.

We provide a SaaS, value-added, non-integrated, stand-alone solutions that helps court systems and other government agencies increase the efficiency of their revenue collection and enhance citizen engagement

What makes nCourt unique is its ‘3S’—software, service, and support—business model. nCourt’s payment solutions are designed with extensive dashboards that provide real-time access to the payment status. The software solution is capable of providing consolidated funding to help ease the reconciliation process for its clients. In addition, nCourt provides comprehensive, world-class services to government entities, where its professional service team works hand-in-hand with clients to build the solution and payment channels according to their needs. Unlike its competitors who simply airdrop their solution, nCourt strives to offer the best possible support, allowing clients to stay ahead of the pack. To do this, the company deploys a team of industry experts and engineers to assist clients when needed.

To further elaborate on nCourt’s value proposition, Wilkins recalls its collaboration with one its clients who wanted to enhance their payment model. While planning to implement a new case management system (CMS), the administrators of the client’s Recorder’s Court realized they needed a more efficient payment processing system. The company partnered with a leading case management vendor to seamlessly integrate their payment software with nCourt. Post-collaboration the company enabled the client to double its online revenue and reduce wait times for both on-site payments and calls.

nCourt is always committed to build solutions that can add value to its clients' business model. As such, the innovation labs at nCourt continue to work on adding new payment methods into its intuitive solution. The company is also adding a payment solution that can support contactless card payments, where the user can just run their card over the system to make payments. “We are always at the forefront in helping the government sector embrace modern digital payment technologies by leveraging our industry expertise and experience,” concludes Wilkins.
