FREMONT, CA: Google, while improving interoperability between private and public clouds adds its expertise in container-oriented computing to one of the most widely-adopted private cloud stacks- OpenStack. Google also plans to integrate Kubernetes, one of its open source projects, with Murano, an OpenStack project.

Mark Collier, COO, OpenStack Foundation, explains in a blog post that , with Docker and containerized applications growing in popularity, Google's participation in the OpenStack ecosystem can be beneficial to OpenStack users who are embracing container-based systems.

“By joining forces with the OpenStack Foundation we hope to add container-native patterns to the toolbelt of enterprise developers, and improve interoperability between public and private clouds.  We will be working over the coming months with the community to integrate Kubernetes, as well as complementary container technologies, to create a stronger hybrid cloud,” explains Craig McLuckie, Product Manager, Google.

Collier further explains that Google’s cloud-native chops backing OpenStack is huge and they are excited to see what the future of open collaboration brings to cloud computing.
