Accellion Reaches another Mile with FedRAMP "In Process" Certification
PALO ALTO, CA: FedRAMP (The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program), a government-wide program to deploy standard approaches in security assessment and authorization for cloud products, has rendered its “in process” certification to Accellion—a provider of secure access to enterprise content. The certification will strengthen the market position of Accellion’s kiteworks as a solution enabling government employees to securely access and transfer sensitive government documents.
The program FedRAMP is founded with an intent to support the government’s cloud computing plan and help the adoption of cloud computing services among federal agencies. All along, the programs’ certifications are based on a unified risk management process that includes security requirements agreed upon by the federal departments and agencies. Accellion had successfully met all the preparatory steps of these requirements to gain “in process” certification for kiteworks.
"We are extremely eager to have achieved this imperative turning point," remarked Yorgen Edholm, CEO of Accellion. "This accomplishment shows to our numerous present and imminent government clients that we take digital security and authenticity of their information to a great heights, adds Edholm. “We are effectively seeking after and advancing toward full FedRAMP accreditation with the goal to protect sensitive information of the government.”
Accellion’s kiteworks offers a private cloud infrastructure designed for securely accessing and sharing enterprise content stored in SharePoint, OneDrive, Box, and Dropbox, without requiring the use of Virtual Private Network. The solution also makes it easy to create and add users to the folders, assign tasks, add comments and maintain document version control. These features culminate in increased productivity besides offering an ease in sharing files.
Moving ahead, Accellion also anticipates complete FedRAMP certification by the end of 2016 to ramp up its platform’s reputation as a superior content management and collaboration platform. At that time, the kiteworks FedRAMP (GovCloud) package will be available in isolated environments on Amazon Cloud and GovCloud. This would potentially steer Accellion towards attaining business growth and strategies for long-term success.
