FREMONT, CA: Aegis Sciences Corporation, a laboratory sciences company, announced the members of its Aegis Shield Expert Panel who provides guidance on its Aegis Shield mobile app and website as well as its Aegis Shield Certified program. The Expert Panel helps Aegis stay abreast of current sciences and practices related to athletes’ dietary supplement use, with the goal of helping to reduce the risk associated with consuming products containing prohibited substances.

Aegis Shield helps to keep athletes clean and in the game by providing an extensive, up-to-date database of products and supplements. Using updates via mobile app or email, Aegis Shield helps to decode the ingredients listed on a product's label and identify ingredients that appear on a particular sports organization's Banned Substance List. The app can be downloaded on iPhone, Android and tablet devices.

With Aegis Shield Certified program for dietary supplement manufacturers, Aegis tests supplement products for the presence of prohibited substances such as steroids, stimulants and diuretics. Once the products have passed Aegis testing, it will display the Aegis Shield Certified logo to assure consumers that what is listed on the packet of the product are true to the products’ actual contents, and that they do not contain any prohibited substances. The Expert Panel also helps guide the development of Aegis Shield Certified program.

“We created our Aegis Shield products and services to give athletes and supplement makers alike resources to help them avoid complications associated with banned or prohibited substances. Our Expert Panel brings our company significant clinical, business, academic, and research experience and expertise. They offer us unique perspective and insight that will be invaluable as we continue to expand our Aegis Shield educational and program offerings,” said Bob Murray, Ph.D., Scientific Director for Aegis Shield.
