Aerial MOB Acquired By 5D Robotics to Strengthen 3D Mapping Capabilities
SAN DIEGO, CA: 5D Robotics announced the acquisition of industrial assets and intellectual property of Aerial Mob, LLC, which had led to the formation of 5D Aerial Division. 5D Robotics, the provider of groundbreaking robotic innovations has formed its 5D Aerial division that provides 3D mapping capabilities, empowering focused analytical solutions to vertical markets, including oil and gas, utilities, and construction markets. “Our precise position and navigation technology coupled with Aerial MOB’s unmanned aircraft solutions (UAS) will further drive adoption of 5D sensors,” says David Bruemmer, CEO and Founder, 5D Robotics. Further based on the company’s 5D positioning technology, a set of core capabilities have been developed for safe motion, 3D mapping and autonomous navigation which is currently running on air and ground vehicles ranging from 6 to 6000 lbs.
To boost this acquisition, Aerial MOB’s Treggon Owens Director and Chief Executive Officer has joined 5D Robotics, as the Chief Innovation Officer. “5D Aerial will focus on bringing products to the market which will be used for the commercial deployment of UAS,” states Owens. Aerial MOB’s expertise lies in aerial cinematography—providing world-class services to films, television studios and production houses. “The marriage of our aerospace and robotic families will lead to common efficiencies, innovation and cross-discipline idea sharing,” says Treggon.
