Amazon Web Services Simplifies API Management with API Gateway

By CIOReview | Monday, July 13, 2015

SEATTLE, WA: Amazon Web Services announces Amazon API Gateway, a fully managed service that eases AWS customers to create, publish, maintain, monitor, and secure Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) at any scale. AWS Management Console enables customers to create an API that acts as a “front door” for applications to access data, business logic, or functionality from their “back-end” services, such as workloads running on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud or code running on AWS Lambda.

Amazon API Gateway allows customers to use familiar AWS security tools such as AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) to verify and authenticate API requests. The gateway handles accepting and processing API call tasks such as traffic management, authorization and access control, monitoring and API version management. It can generate SDKs for developers to easily use APIs in their applications on various platforms including Android, JavaScript and iOS. Pay-as-you-go service simplifies creating and maintaining APIs, authorizing access, verifying API calls, monitoring API performance and ensures back-end services handle heavy API traffic.

All-in with AWS

Amazon announces four independent software vendors (ISV) such as Looker, Qlik, Sumo Logic and Works Applications as “all-in” with AWS leveraging Amazon’s cloud platform to innovate and meet demands of enterprise customers around the world. AWS SaaS Partner Program provides architecture best practices, deep technical training, product development credits, cost effective and go-to-market support to help ISVs design and deliver high-quality, innovative SaaS offerings.
