American Nuts Embraces Pioneering RFID to Keep Up With its Business
Senitrons ERC’s approach stands out by integrating RFID with proprietary software, resulting in an entire manufacturing facility using ERC’s centralized platform to manage every action.
FREMONT, CA: American Nuts, one of North America’s largest nut producers, loves high-quality goods as much as positive business outcomes. The recently published RFID ERC (Enterprise Resource Control) framework from Senitron and Avery Dennison makes a significant contribution to both.
“ERC is not a substitute but rather an add-on supplement to any existing ERP/MRP system. Capable of integrating with any ERP/MRP system, our solution gives organizations control and visibility of its health, data, operations, and profitability,” said Joe Saghezi, CTO, Senitron.
To balance the continuing dedication to excellence with a healthy dose of profitability, American Nuts needed to better monitor its business in the areas of operations/production, inventory/warehousing, and quality management. Similar to many manufacturing firms, American Nuts used a well-known ERP method, but similar to other conventional systems, inventory data precision was not feasible to achieve, so they began to explore using different technology to resolve their most pressing concerns. In addition to inventory precision, American Nuts attempted to computerize all facets of operations, including shop floor controls, warehouse management, production schedules, quality control management, integrated communication system, real-time alerts, and data analytics.
After much analysis, they learned that none of the available solutions had a full all-in-one package to satisfy all of their needs and, in particular, nothing with automated real-time capabilities until they came across the Senitrons ERC RFID device specifically designed to resolve complex manufacturing challenges and workflow requirements.
Immediately after the meeting and presentation of the Senitrons ERC RFID device, American Nuts realized that it was the ideal solution they were looking for. The CEO, CFO, and the top management of operations were astounded to see how this framework was structured to solve the pain points they faced and unanimously approved the implementation of the ERC solution.
Although RFID monitoring is nothing new and has been around for many years, Senitrons ERC’s approach stands out by integrating RFID with proprietary software, resulting in an entire manufacturing facility using ERC’s centralized platform to manage every action. Employees on the factory floor collect purchase orders from ERC and submit them to Avery Dennison.
“The decision to partner with Senitron proved to be beneficial in helping us to strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of our organization. ERC system provides management with crucial real-time data and analytics to make informative and strategic decisions laying the foundation for maximizing profitability and growth,” noted Duncan Lavery, CEO, American Nuts.
“Thanks to ERC we expect to reduce inventory levels within the next six to twelve months by at least 25%, significantly reducing future inventory obsolescence and carrying costs. With accurate lot-cost information now at hand, we anticipate an improvement in contribution margins by at least 3-5 percent,” said Nate Willits, CFO, American Nuts.
AD-665u8 products (work well in a wide variety of applications and over a wide range of dielectrics) to production managers scheduling productions in the ERC Scheduler, sales teams testing RFID real-time inventories, order fulfillment crews using ERC to find, pick up and distribute inventory, all the way to the top management being able to observe, evaluate and render insightful decisions.
“ERCs easy to use interface along with instructional videos in each module and around-the-clock support made this implementation unexpectedly seamless. My favorite feature is how the scheduling system generates electronic work orders allowing me to monitor production in real time and take immediate action if necessary,” commented Santiago Diaz, Production Manager, American Nuts.
