FREMONT, CA: Avaya, a provider of business collaboration and communications solutions, collaborates with Montreal’s Bell Centre, a Hockey arena, for supporting the centre’s unified digital strategy of upgrading the network and fortifying wireless capabilities to provide high-tech experience to fans.

For advancing the venue from technological perspective, Avaya has architected a virtualized, flexible network to provide high-capacity, security for wireless access, fast Wi-Fi connection times and multicast support for IP video streams known as SDN Fx architecture. Using Avaya’s Fabric Connect at the core of the network, the Bell Centre is going to provide nearly 500 wireless access points with double radios ensuring that visitors get Wi-Fi no matter where they are in the facility.

To make buying tickets convenient for the fans, many performers have requested for enabling ticketless entry. The need is fulfilled by Ubiquitous wireless access that allows fans to buy tickets at face value, instead of inflated resale prices. With ticketless entry, event attendees need to simply present the credit card they use to buy their tickets and a valid form of identification. By swiping the card, the gate attendant verifies the tickets to let the guest to enter the arena.

“Avaya and the Bell Centre are both committed to finding innovative ways to provide the fans with rewarding experiences and engagements through the use of cloud-based solutions. Avaya’s wireless technology and solutions will allow this great venue to provide Olympic-quality coverage that enables fans, staff, athletes and performers to be connected throughout the event,” says Walter Andri, president and managing director, Avaya Canada.
