Battelle's Barricade Delivers Accurate Validation of Chips for Integrated Circuits
COLUMBUS, OH: Battelle, a non-profit organization that conducts research and development, designs and manufactures products, and delivers critical services for government and commercial customers has unveiled Barricade, a new technology that eliminates the risk of counterfeit integrated circuits in devices for aerospace and defense systems, critical infrastructure, and medical devices.
The latest release offers fast, non-destructive authentication of electronic components from both trusted and untrusted sources, enabling separation of cloned or counterfeit components from authentic ones at a lesser cost. It comprises electronic component signal acquisition hardware and software installed at customer sites and determines authenticity based on electrical signatures and a classification algorithm. This enables them to generate identity signatures for each class of chips in a given class of authentic devices.
Barricade offers a simple and repeatable process that can be conducted at any point in the supply chain to eliminate the risk of counterfeit components and to help address emerging regulations for anti-counterfeiting. Besides this, the application is applicable even in the detection of military grade or commercial grade components and cloned components.
