Behavioral Analytics as a Game Changer for the Gaming Industry

By CIOReview | Friday, March 30, 2018

According to reports, the business intelligence industry will emerge to become a $20 billion market by 2019, and 85 percent of business professionals believe that big data will significantly change the way they run their business. The next generation of business intelligence—behavioural analytics—has and will continue to disrupt several industries just like the gaming industry.

The shift from cottage industry to current business over the past few decades has led to an outburst of active consumers in the gaming space. Today, the gaming industry is at the forefront of discovering groundbreaking applications for new technologies like behavioral analytics. Games not only interest kids or teens, but also capture the attention of adults, business executives, and other demographics.

As the market of the gaming industry is growing, companies are utilizing behavioral analytics to design games that respond to a user’s actions. Behavioral analytics has allowed the game developers to create games in a way that will improve the user experience.

All of this goes back to the reason why gaming is ready for disruption. The feedback loop between game players and game designers has never been tighter. Being able to launch, iterate, track, and learn at the same time, game developers need to widen their approach on how they track, analyze, and integrate user behavior into building their games. If game developers track, analyze, and use the wealth of information to advance and iterate their game development process appropriately, they can produce a winning game resulting in a broader customer base.
