BioSolar's Super Battery Technology for Enhanced Storage Capacity with Improved Battery Life
SANTA CLARITA, CA: BioSolar, a company dedicated to improve energy storage process and reduce ownership cost, is developing a breakthrough technology, Super Battery that can drastically reduce the cost of on-site energy storage which is currently under development.
A recent study conducted by GTM Research and the Energy Storage association has forecasted that the energy storage market in the U.S. will triple in 2015. Furthermore, GTM Research indicates the market for energy storage technologies has expanded exponentially by installing battery storage as an alternative which can handle peak electricity demand. Battery storage has been proved to be an eco-friendly technology which offers various benefits compared to traditional power sources, it acts as a cleaner, responds faster, can be located directly at load centers and is cost-effective."A battery contains two major parts, a cathode and an anode, that function together as the positive and negative sides. Today's state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery is limited by the storage capacity of its cathode, while the anode can store much more. The Super Battery is built to improve storage capacity with improved battery life. It is aimed to double the capacity and reduce cost four times less which is potential to break the $100/kWh cost barrier needed for market adoption of energy storage.
