FREMONT, CA: BlackBerry announces that BlackBerry messenger (BBM) is now available on smartwatches enabled with Android wear. BBM users can now communicate even faster and in a simplified way as the company broadens its reach to diverse platforms to deploy its mobility solutions.

BBM for Android Wear will enable BBM users to: receive alerts on the smartwatch when any new BBM message is received along with the sender information and a preview of the content of the message; comprehensive reading and navigation among the messages and closing of the notifications; respond to messages through pre-defined messages or with Google Now; accept BBM invites from the watch.

"BlackBerry is committed to listening to our customers and integrating new features and partners to improve the BBM Chat experience,” said Herman Li, SVP, BBM Engineering and Product Management, BlackBerry. “The integration of BBM to support wearable technology is just one way we’re expanding the capabilities of our portfolio and delivering exciting options for customers to easily access BlackBerry’s cross-platform technologies.”

BBM provides its users with chat, multimedia sharing, and voice calling services to connect to the other BBM contacts spread across the globe. BBM Channels allows users to join chats and share images with up to 50 other users.

Android wear enables receiving messages and emails from others and responding to them through the wearables such as smartwatch. It can also provide meeting notifications and weather updates. The daily health summaries help to keep track of the health and fitness of an individual. This wearable technology platform connects smartphone to the wrist which allows pause, play and skip of music tracks.
