Buildship, the official Gradle plugin for Eclipse Foundation

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Gradle, the next-generation open source build automation system which develops, delivers and supports Gradleplatform launches Buildship, a Gradle plugin developed solely for Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Eclipse is a community for individuals and organizations who wish to collaborate on commercially-friendly open source software. Gradle is now a member of Eclipse Foundation as a result of this partnership.

“Gradle support is a key theme for our Mars release. The integration being developed by Gradleware will make Eclipse the IDE to use for developers using Gradle,” says Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director Eclipse Foundation.

Buildship 1.0 will initially be focusing on the Gradle users by running build scripts, later it will incorporate Gradle build authors by creating build scripts in its subsequent releases. The platform opens door for importing the existing Gradle projects into Eclipse and also lets to create new Gradle projects within Eclipse.Gradle Tasks View permits to display, sort, filter, and run tasks while Gradle Executions View displays the progress of Gradle build in its process of execution, including the visualization of the life cycle being built, the task and the test in progress.

Buildship 1.0 will be made available for Eclipse Mars users through the new Eclipse Mars Marketplace which is being delivered in Eclipse Mars out-of-the-box, without further configuration or installation requirements.
