CELLECTA Enables Researchers to Permanently Knockout Specific Gene Function
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Cellecta, a provider of products and services for gene function analysis, announces the release of its pooled CRISPR Guide RNA (sgRNA) knockout library targeting human protein coding genes. Researchers can permanently knockout a specific gene function with the help of CRISPR technology.
Cellecta produces a lentiviral based CRISPR library targeting almost 20,000 protein encoding genes in human genome. Packing libraries as viral particles for gene knockout screens involve weeks of preparative work. Academic lab developed CRISPR libraries are limitedly available for researchers. Cellecta offers the library as pre-packed lentiviral particles that can be used for a knockout screen immediately on receipt.
Cellecta’s library is designed as three modules each targeting a third of human genome with eight sgRNA per gene. Cellecta’s library incorporates improved design features for sgRNAs to enhance their effectiveness and minimizes false positive results by filtering.
CRISPR libraries can be combined or separately used for single genome-wide knockout screen based on experimental needs. The modular format resembles Cellecta’s Human Genome-Wide shRNA Library; Investigators can make use of CRISPR and RNAi Library modules to target the same set of genes in genome-wide loss of function screens.
