FREMONT, CA: CenturyLink  is wading into the Big Data analytics market with its latest acquisition of Orchestrate, a company into NoSQL database solutions. Though it is the third largest telecommunications company, CenturyLink is giving a great amount of attention to build a beefy cloud services portfolio with a strong IaaS platform that has solutions for Big Data analytics and other services.

Orchestrate is a startup that provides cloud-based database as a service (DBaaS) to its customers. It started its Enterprise-grade database offering in 2014. Its platform supports mission-critical applications with minimal latencies even on shared infrastructure. Before the acquisition, both CenturyLink and Orchestrate have been working in tight integration on effective cloud-based database solutions.

Along with the acquisition of the business, CenturyLink has managed to secure Orchestrate’ brains as well: Orchestrate’s co-founders, Chief Technology Officer, and VP of Engineering will now work for CenturyLink.

CenturyLink has a broad vision of IT evolution. It realizes the immense potential in open source and innovation. To that end, it has been making earnest attempt to promote Networks Function Virtualization (NFV) – the new age networking – and has developed its own innovation center to build cutting edge technology for the digital world.

Its latest acquisition underscores the importance of data in the data driven modern economies. As mobility, IoT, and cloud make headways into business and personal lives, CenturyLink is ensuring it has enough firepower to lead the evolution.
