Community Cloud from Salesforce Engages Customers via Product Recommendations and E-commerce

FREMONT, CA: Salesforce’s Community Cloud now allows businesses to build specialized online communities where customers can connect with the business personnel as well as other customers, besides facilitating purchases directly through the community. With this release, the company potentially enables a whole new evolution of social commerce.

To briefly introduce, the community not only allows businesses to present their product directly in the flow by engaging the customers, but also facilitates commerce and sales between community members.

Being a customer of this platform, TripAdvisor offers the Community Cloud to discuss about the hotel quality and hotel bookings. Another customer, Avid Technology, a provider of audio and video production tools uses this community to support its Artist community. The users can buy and sell sound effects, stock footage and other music and video clips from one another. Other customers include Neil Young’s PonoMusic and the Deloitte Digital Hub.

Discussing the wide acceptance of the Community Cloud, Mike Stone, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Salesforce Community Cloud states, “We’re really using the social graph and what we understand about how the community is evolving to go and make those recommendations.”

Salesforce has partnered with e-commerce companies like CloudCraze, Demandware and Bigcommerce to realize the product, Community Cloud. With the companies Lightning Components, there is no need of any additional programming to connect e-commerce elements. The company plans to make the new e-commerce Lightning Components handy by early 2016.
