Corero Network Security Provides InMotion Hosting its SmartWall Threat Defense System to Combat DDoS Attacks
FREMONT, CA: InMotion Hosting, a world leader among website hosting companies has announced, it will be employing Corero Network Security’s SmartWall Threat Defense System (TDS) to counter DDoS attacks targeted against its data centers. Corero Network Security is a leading provider of innovative First Line of Defense® DDoS protection solutions.
To combat DDoS attacks, InMotion Hosting earlier leveraged techniques like “black holing”, where the upstream provider temporarily drops all traffic routed towards the affected server until a DNS update could take place and reroute the customer traffic. Although this technique effectively served the purpose of combating DDoS attacks; it negatively impacted InMotion Hosting’s customers. InMotion Hosting needed a solution that effectively battle DDoS attacks targeting its networks without impacting its customers.
InMotion Hosting zeroed in on Corero SmartWall TDS due to the product’s flexibility, scalability and easy-to-understand user interface. Corero SmartWall TDS is a first line of defense that prevents network and service outages due to DDoS attacks by inspecting traffic at line-rate and blocking attacks in real time, while allowing the good traffic to flow uninterrupted. SmartWall TDS was integrated into InMotion Hosting’s networks after the second layer of core switches—an important requirement of the customer.
Corero Network Security has also provided its SecureWatch Analytics to help InMotion Hosting’s network administrators leverage the gathered intelligence to identify trends and pre-emptively deal with potential threats before they become an issue. During large events, Corero’s support team is also assisting InMotion Hosting’s network administrators by monitoring such attacks, providing status updates and detailed graphs to help them understand the threats and malicious traffic targeting its networks.
Erik Soroka, IT Manager at InMotion Hosting remarks at their recent development “The overall ability and performance of our networks has improved significantly since installing Corero’s SmartWall TDS, which ultimately means a better web hosting experience for our customers”.
