Costa Farms Deploys Cloud Logistics to Renovate Transportation Management
FREMONT, CA: Costa Farms, a pioneer breeder of ornamental plants, has deployed Cloud Logistics Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage their distribution network, reduce freight costs, and provide unprecedented visibility to inventory and shipments.
Founded in 1961, Costa Farms globally stretches over 3,500 acres and employs 4,000 people. Along with indoor and bedding plant divisions, they operate young-plant production divisions. To smoothen the process of distribution, Cloud Logistics provides transportation logistics solutions for the global supply chain market. Their services result in a patent pending configurable workflow architecture, a unique user experience, customizable alerts, dynamic dashboard widgets, and ad-hoc reporting—all delivered in a cloud-based network.

Costa Farms will use the Cloud Logistics TMS to optimize carrier selection, which is particularly important in their highly seasonal business. During peak season, marrying the right loads with the right carriers will drive substantial savings. During low season, performing the same function while adhering to contractual carrier commitments is essential to maintain strong carrier relations. The Cloud Logistics solution will also integrate with real time location monitoring—provided by LocusTraxx—giving transportation planners, insight to shipment progress and a dynamically recalculated estimated time of arrival (ETA).
