FREMONT, CA: Organizations are demanding for a reliable and secure connection to the cloud, rather than sending data over the public internet. Paving the way for cloud adoption for its customers, Digital Realty, a data center solutions provider introduces “Direct Link Colo,” a solution to connect its data center directly with IBM’s cloud via SoftLayer’s global cloud infrastructure platform. The enhanced solution enables Digital Realty to house its own infrastructure within the IBM cloud.

Direct Links Colo enables Digital Reality data center customers to plug into IBM’s hybrid cloud and gain control over access to their infrastructure and services. It helps to analyze how the data is routed and assess consistent network performance without the need of internet or any costly private network.

By directly linking Digital Realty to SoftLayer's modular global cloud infrastructure platform, Direct Link Colo offers low latency up to 1.5 milliseconds to facilitate scaling and real-time synchronicity between hybrid cloud and collocation solutions. It delivers fast deployment and extending the customer solutions, greatly reduces the power costs due to less physical equipment, and help companies to grow on global scale with a trusted partner.

"Our primary goal in working with Digital Realty on Direct Link Colo is to deliver world class hybrid computing solutions without compromising on performance and security," said Jack Beech, Vice President of Business Development for SoftLayer, an IBM company. "We have a longstanding relationship with Digital Realty and know the team operates to the highest standards. This, combined with our close proximity to many of its colocation facilities, is crucial to delivering the latency we are aiming to achieve."
