Dimension Data Accelerates NatSteel's Migration to Private Cloud
FREMONT, CA: The augmentation of IT has paved the way for IT as a Service (ITaaS), whereby the IT organization of a company operates as a separate entity. Adopting the ITaaS model, NatSteel has migrated to private cloud as a service from in house data centre management with the help of Dimension Data.
NatSteel delivers steel products and solutions for the construction industry. With an aim to remain competitive and sustainable in the market, the company transformed from in house management to ITaaS structure. NatSteel chose Dimension Data to analyze its operational needs and boost the transformation process. Dimension Data accelerated the shift of NatSteel’s IT Operations from a CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) to OPEX (Operational Expenditure) model. This shift will reduce costs and increase productivity.
Dimension Data not only supported the transformation of the CAPEX model but also transformed the flat LAN to a VLAN for infrastructure availability and introduced a suite of integrated applications to support IT services and asset management.
“By outsourcing our infrastructure support to a trusted and experienced partner such as Dimension Data, we were able to restructure our IT team to focus on our core business, rather than technology. Hence, a new role known as Biz-IT Lead was created. Reporting to Heads of key business departments, Biz-IT Leads are responsible for using IT to solve business challenges for the organization,” says Yang Cher Ming, CIO, NatSteel.
