
DoseSpot and ZenCharts Ally to Facilitate Secure Exchange of Clinical Information
NEEDHAM HEIGHTS, MA: DoseSpot, a provider of e-Prescribing integration platforms for medical, dental and telehealth software announces its partnership with ZenCharts, a provider of EHR for substance abuse treatment providers. The alliance allows ZenCharts to integrate DoseSpot capability with their behavioral health EHR system.
After successfully completing the Surescripts certification, ZenCharts can now e-Prescribe controlled and non-controlled prescriptions to more than 65,000 pharmacies.
Surescripts is an e-prescription network that connects prescribers in all 50 states through their choice of software to payers, chain pharmacies and independent pharmacies. It facilitates the secure, electronic exchange of a wide array of clinical information including prescriptions, discharge summaries and lab results.
ZenCharts is an intelligent EHR for substance abuse treatment providers. It is aims to increase practice efficiencies such as enabling electronic prescriptions, improving accuracy in coding and billing to save costs and time.
DoseSpot is a Surescripts certified e-Prescribing platform specifically designed to integrate with electronic health record, electronic dental record, practice management and telehealth software. It is certified to e-Prescribe controlled substances and provides e-Prescribing solutions to healthcare IT companies.
“e-Prescribing of controlled substance (EPCS) adoption is becoming a major trend within the behavioral health space,with EPCS now legal in all 50 states, we anticipate utilization and adoption to increase significantly,” says Greg Waldstreicher, CEO, DoseSpot.
EPCS stands for Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances a rule by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Diversion Control. The DEA’s rule provides all practitioners the ability to write electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. In addition, it also permits pharmacies to receive, dispense, and archive these electronic prescriptions. The rule was published in the Federal Register Wednesday, March 31, 2010 and became effective on June 1, 2010. The ultimate goals of EPCS according to Surescripts include reducing fraud and abuse, securing electronic records and improving safety and patient care.
