FREMONT, CA: With an aim to connect Isilon storage systems and OneFS software with public cloud services of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and VirtuStream, EMC raises curtains on CloudPools.

EMC’s CloudPools helps in gaining cloud scale storage and reducing overall storage costs by allowing businesses to tier data from their on-premises Isilon cluster to cloud. It helps companies to leverage policy based, automated tiering approach to archive frozen data that is visible and readily accessible for business use. In addition, it offers a flexible cloud integration with a number of public cloud service providers like Amazon Web services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and EMC ECS. CloudPools automatically protects data transmitted to cloud storage with data encryption.

In conjunction with CloudPools, EMC also rolls out its next generation Isilon OneFS operating system, that combines three layers of storage architectures namely file system, volume manager and data protection. The OneFS OS is structured in a way that supports the requirements of Big Data and enterprise IT to meet their storage demands. It also safeguards and protects the data with its OneFS architecture and disaster recovery options. The new operating system not only supports industry protocols like SMB, NFS, FTP, HTTP and OpenStack Swift but also provides single volume design with OneFS scale out storage solutions.

Moreover, EMC also launches IsilonSD Edge - software defined storage system that will run on commodity hardware and support VMware ESX to facilitate branch and remote officers.
