FREMONT, CA: EMC launches its new technology, integrated Copy Data Management (iCDM) that consolidates backup copies and cut data sprawls.

iCDM for XtremIO flash systems puts data storage copies in-memory for backup and cuts the data sprawl. Built to save time and cost, XtremIO arrays are amazingly fast and delivers high IOPs at less than 1 millisecond.

The XtremIO storage system is a scale-out architecture that uses building blocks, which can be clustered together to grow performance and capacity as required.  It can drive incredible database loads that handle thousands of virtual machines. It uses the logical storage than the physical flash due to real-time, inline data reduction and thin provisioning.

EMC XtremIO helps the enterprises to harness the power of flash storage with a content-based data placement and dual-stage metadata.

It offers enterprises with balanced performance, always-on data reduction, thin provisioning, data protection, writeable snapshots, encryption, and simple storage provisioning. is ideal for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), virtual server infrastructure, databases and analytics and mixed workload consolidation.

iCDM, backed by XtremIO’s core architecture, can balance load of data for maximum performance without tuning and provides writeable snapshots with space efficiency and zero performance impact. It delivers truly inline, always-on data deduplication to reduce capacity needs. It also enables operational and disaster recovery using native replication with EMC Recover Point.

This innovation helps the organizations to have a better maintenance of their data storage system where 60 percent of the storage is utilized for disaster recovery, data backup, development and maintenance.

“ICDM puts all copies in memory so there's no network or back-end operation to complete. Every copy is space efficient and only new blocks are used on a storage array,” said Sonny Anulakh, Global Vice President of Technical Operations, XtremIO.

EMC promotes iCDM to its XtremIO customers as they already have it embedded in systems where customers consolidate SAP and Oracle databases and develop their applications as well.
