FREMONT, CA: EnOcean, enablers in energy harvesting wireless technology has been working to introduce a wireless technology for energy harvesting in the 2.4 GHz frequency band for commercial applications. On the same lines, Gooee, the IoT platform provider for lighting has announced its partnership with EnOcean to integrate a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) based self-powered wall switch module into the Bluetooth Smart Mesh stack.
“We are extremely excited by this partnership, EnOcean share our vision for interoperability in the connected world. Technology companies need to collaborate and work together rather than building proprietary solutions where the end-user ultimately suffers,” remarked Simon Coombes, CTO, Gooee.
This is a glimpse of the next evolution of the low power communication protocol as the collaboration will initiate the first EnOcean powered wall switch device integrated into the new Bluetooth Smart Mesh protocol. The collaboration is preceded by recent announcements of other Gooee technology partnerships, surfacing around orchestrating the world’s smallest ASIC sensor for lighting applications.
“By integrating EnOcean’s energy harvesting wireless technology not only do we become the first to bring self-powered devices into the Bluetooth Smart Mesh but we eliminate a lot of the headaches in integrating physical switches into a wireless control solution and give end-users a great experience,” adds Coombes, CTO, Gooee.
Lighting and switch manufacturers will be significantly benefitted by Gooee’s adoption of Bluetooth Smart Mesh as its principle on-premise networking protocol, since the integration of a wall-switch further enhances the full-stack offering. Furthermore, it provides them with maintenance-free control solution, not compromising on the versatility and simplicity involved in its installation. EnOcean can approach new markets and regions with this revamped product line for sub-GHZ and for 2.4 GHz ZigBee 3.0 systems.
This partnership shall leverage EnOcean’s expertise in wireless controlled energy harvesting and Gooee’s competency in IoT and cloud applications, aiming to create self-powered IoT solutions in the field of energy management and lighting control.
