FREMONT, CA: Equinix, a provider of carrier-neutral data center and internet exchanges, has announced a completion of network build-out by United Fiber and Data (UFD) in its NY9 data center located at 111 8th Avenue, one of the largest tech buildings in New York City. UFD’s privately owned and operated network provides clients with a reliable, low-latency DWDM fiber network.

With this latest network build out in its NY9 data center by UFD, Equinix has facilitated networking services from a major player and already housed infrastructure for cloud service providers. “Equinix was one of the first data center providers to offer private access to both Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, and we have grown to offer direct connections to all the leading global providers,” said Brian Lillie, CIO, Equinix.

The expansion by UFD into NY9 will allow its clients and customers access to broader network connectivity. UFD's network bypasses major corridors and city centers. The company strategically designed a path, between New York City and Washington, D.C., to avoid single points of failure with a solution that offers fast and diverse dark fiber access and connectivity.

“We take pride in offering facilities with the best network connectivity in the world, and our customers have come to depend on that,” states Jim Poole, Vice President, Global Ecosystem Development at Equinix. “Our NY4 and NY9 data centers are used by some of the largest and most important companies across a variety of verticals. Our work with UFD, and the access it grants us to low latency alternative network, provides our customers with the benefits of reliable and diverse connectivity.”
