FREMONT, CA: Flexera Software - a provider of software licensing, compliance and installation solutions for application producers and enterprises - launches InstallAnywhere 2015 to support Docker containers and simplify deployment of complex applications.

InstallAnywhere is a multiplatform installation development solution for application producers who need to deliver a professional and consistent cross installation experience for physical, virtual and cloud environments. It creates reliable installations for on-premises platforms such as Windows, Linux, Apple, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and IBM and supports taking of existing and new software products to a virtual and cloud infrastructure to create Docker containers from a single InstallAnywhere project.

The new features and enhancements in InstallAnywhere 2015 include:

Windows 10 Support:

By supporting Windows 10, the platform creates a single installation project to build installations for each supported platform that helps installation developers to save time.

Support for Microsoft SHA-256 Certificates:

InstallAnywhere 2015 supports SHA-256 certificates and digests to enable companies to start adopting SHA-256 certificates in order to be trusted by Windows. It prepares developers for changes in Microsoft's certificate requirements.

Multiplatform Development Environment Support:

The platform enables creation of installers from the same platform on which Java or multiplatform applications are coded to help producers increase efficiency.

Tomcat and WebSphere Web App Installations:

InstallAnywhere streamlines connecting of installations for modern complex applications to a web server to create or update a web app by allowing developers to create installers that can securely deploy WAR and EAR files to Apache Tomcat and IBM WebSphere with just few clicks.

Simplicity in Connecting Installations to Database Servers:

It simplifies deployment of complex applications by enabling installations to connect to the database servers such as IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL, and MySQL. Users have the ability to easily connect installations to their preferred database server using the built-in panels. Support for Docker enables users to search and pull images from public and private Docker repositories to build containers that run distributed applications on any system or machine where Docker is supported, be it virtual, physical or cloud.

"Software vendors want to lead their markets by supporting new technologies like Docker, but they realize that many customers still require traditional installers. So, they want to support both without duplicating effort for installation development. InstallAnywhere 2015 is the first installation development solution that supports Docker. And it allows application producers to support both traditional multiplatform installations and Docker images from the same project," said Maureen Polte, Vice President of Product Management, Flexera Software.
