GEA Chosen for the Supply of Olive Oil Extraction lines
GEA has signed a contract for the supply of olive oil extraction lines to the new Olibest oil mill in the Serpa district of the Alentejo region of Portugal.
FREMONT CA: GEA has signed a contract for the supply of olive oil extraction lines to the new Olibest oil mill in the Serpa district of the Alentejo region of Portugal at the end of 2020. The order, valued more than EUR 4 million, is the highest in the GEA Center of Excellence history for Olive Oil, further enhancing the reputation of GEA as one of the major suppliers to produce olive oil and marking a significant milestone in the olive oil industry.
The Olibest project, funded by Portuguese investors led by Alvaro Labella, involves constructing a modern processing plant with a daily capacity of up to 1,5 million kilos of olives. The contract includes the procurement and installation of five full olive mash extraction lines and GEA pumps, hammer mills, malaxers, and vibrating screens, for the first and second extraction. GEA oil extraction decanters will allow up to 400 tons per day to be processed at the heart of each line, and GEA olive oil polishing separators will allow 3,000 liters per hour to be processed. Integrating automation and remote management systems will allow for accurate and centralized olive oil production management across the whole process. The new Olibest oil mill is expected to be ready for commissioning for the 2021/2022 campaign.
