Gemalto Develops Applet to Speed Up Mobile Payment through Wearables
FREMONT, CA: Gemalto, a provider of digital security solutions, has delivered an applet based on secure elements for smart wearables, launched by China UnionPay Co. (CUP), an eminent payment association to speed up mobile payment transactions.
Smart wearables are grabbing immense attention in recent times, enabling people to track heart rates, food consumption details as well as helping them to monitor their moods. Gemalto is extending the ability of wearables developed by China UnionPay by supporting digital payment as well. The payment applet provided by Gemalto runs on secured elements, which are based on Near Field Communication (NFC) standards.
