SANTA CLARA, CA: Security and IoT specialist Gemalto is all pepped up demonstrate its latest Cinterion Voice over LTE (VoLTE) Cat.1 module for IoT applications at this year’s IoT world pre-event.

This particular solution is being released in a bid to revolutionize IoT connectivity through HQ voice capabilities over LTE to the industry. The Cinterion is the World’s first VoLTE category module that blends both voice and data capabilities through the LTE. This new release is apt for solutions that are slowly migrating towards LTE, providing affordable audio capabilities. This includes security and alarm systems, mHealth monitoring and smart home and building applications.

"With the sunset of 2G and 3G networks on the horizon, the industry is quickly transitioning to LTE to ensure longevity of IoT technology investments," says Axel Hansmann, Vice President Portfolio and Strategy for M2M, Gemalto. "VoLTE is thus expected to become the standard of choice for enabling power efficient IoT voice capabilities."

The Cinterion module joins Gemalto's growing family of LTE Cat. 1 modules that offer reliability, longevity and power efficiency of 4G. It is also the best Machine Type Communication standard available in the market today.

"Gemalto's Cinterion VoLTE Cat.1 solution is well positioned to provide developers, device makers and end users alike with a more flexible and cost effective experience than traditional interaction practices such as data input and touch screens," says Andrew Brown, Executive Director, Enterprise and IoT Research, Strategy Analytics.
