Genesis- Billing Introduces GEMs Plus for Best Code Selection
DUMONT, NJ: Genesis Chiropractic Software, provider of complete chiropractic practice management system, and Billing Network, provider of unified communications, has developed a new way for transition from ICD-9 code to ICD-10 code. The 5-part strategy called Genesis GEMs Plus ensures that the doctors have made the best ICD- 10 code selection.
ICD stands for International Classification of Diseases and ICD code is a set of codes used by physicians, hospitals and allied health workers to indicate diagnosis for all patient encounters. Both the companies have developed this 5-part strategy, which includes a unique equivalence mapping system to align similarities between ICD- 9 and ICD- 10 and analyze how some codes have been altered to adjust to the changing times. Genesis also helps clinics interact with insurance companies and form a platform to help them understand exactly how communication protocol is supposed to be carried out.
Commenting on the strategy, Dr. Evan Gwilliam of ChiroCode Institute, says, “Doctors who rely solely on (the bare-bones) GEMs for ICD- 10 shortcut provided by CMS are headed for financial disaster.”
“The only thing that is certain about ICD- 10 is that every insurance company will use it differently and they will change their tactics as time goes on,” Evan adds.
