GibbsCAM Partners with SpaceClaim for Greater Throughput
Moorpark, CA: Gibbs and Associates added a new CAD feature which is a solution from SpaceClaim Corporation in its GibbsCAM software as a new plug-in. While GibbsCAM is a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, SpaceClaim is a Computer Aided Design (CAD) solutions provider specializing in 3D modeling.
With the new addition in its existing portfolio, GibbsCAM users can now import 3D models from SpaceClaim for machining. It enables the user to export part models to SpaceClaim for modification or for use in modeling workholding devices with its modeling software. The SpaceClaim-GibbsCAM add-in together with installation instruction is available at SpaceClaim’s add-in page.
Gibbs and Association has been providing CAD/CAM technology solutions since 1984. With GibbsCAM software, it provides 2-through 5-axis milling, turning, mill/turning, multi-task simultaneous machining and wire-EDM. GibbsCAM also provides fully integrated manufacturing modeling capabilities that include 2D, 2.5D, 3D wireframe, surface and solid modeling. Certified under Autodesk Inventor Certified Program, GibbsCAM supports Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
SpaceClaim Corporation enables the creation of new designs, and the manipulation of existing 2D and 3D geometry for engineering and manufacturing through its CAD-neutral modeling software. SpaceClaim Engineer allows machinists to edit geometry, optimize designs for manufacturing, and clean up corrupt CAD data, moving on to GibbsCAM for CNC programming three to seven times faster than going through CAD-dependent pre-processing.
“We are pleased to have SpaceClaim as a partner in providing powerful, yet easy-to-use design-through-manufacturing solutions for our customers,” said Robb Weinstein, Senior Vice-President of Sales and Strategic Planning of Gibbs and Associates. “GibbsCAM users are accustomed to moving between design, CNC programming and toolpath verification functions with a single mouse click, so this add-in makes access to SpaceClaim Engineer consistent with our interface, simplifying interoperability for our joint users.”
