FREMONT, CA: GL Communication, a provider of monitoring equipment for computer based testing launches enhancements to its SIGTRAN Protocol Test Suite of SIGTRAN protocol analysis and simulation tools. This product suite includes SIGTRAN SS7 (Signaling System) and Integrated Service for Digital Network (ISDN) SIGTRAN over IP emulator. It will also incorporate scripting which speeds up testing by adding consistency and automation to the process.

GL's Message Automation and Protocol Simulation (MAPS) SIGTRAN protocols are an extension of the SS7 family of protocols, with the main difference being SIGTRAN protocols are carried over IP. It can simulate a Signaling Gateway and Softswitch ISUP signaling specification as defined by ITU-T standards. The application supports testing network elements, error tracking, regression testing, load testing/call generation and generation of high volumes of ISUP traffic.

MAPS SIGTRAN functionality covers the ITU and ANSI variant of SS7 implementing M3UA, M2PA, M3UA, and ISUP protocols. It is able to run pre-defined test scenarios against ISUP test objects in a controlled and deterministic manner.

IDSN Protocol Emulator is used for scripted SIGTRAN ISDN over IP emulation, and can simulate a complete ISDN connection SG to MGC. It is used for testing ISDN protocol messages over IP and can perform a variety of other testing, troubleshooting and maintenance tasks for devices and networks implementing Primary Rate Interface ISDN. It connects to traditional ISDN interfaces and IP enabled signaling nodes and then offload TDM traffic to networks. The traffic types include files, digits, tones, FAX, IVR, Dynamic VF, and Voice Quality Testing.

GL’s test platforms provide visualization, capture and storage features while maintaining portability and remote operability. Its testing solutions are widely used throughout the telecommunications industry.
