PASADENA, CA: It is vital for manufacturers to deliver adequate Conflict Mineral Reporting Template (CMRT) forms. GreenSoft Technology, a provider of environmental compliance content management tools and services for electronic industry has released a new data service for conflict minerals compliance ‘Smelter or Refiner (SOR) Validation.

Conflict resources are natural resources extracted from a conflict zone, such as gold ore, tungsten and coltan thatare utilized to manufacture electronic gadgets. SOR validation determines whether smelter or refiner is a legal entity or not.

According to Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, companies need to receive conflict minerals declaration from their suppliers, on the other hand many SORs examined by NGOs are found non-legitimated, while few lack validation regarding sourcing of conflict minerals.

To rectify this issue, GreenSoft offers SOR Validation as an optional service for the conflict minerals data collection program where manufacturers can communicate with the SORs directly and follow up diligently with the suppliers to minimize risk. The Conflict Minerals Module manages and creates Conflict Minerals reports quickly and easily through built in templates.

GreenSoft leverages lists of private industry and other organizations including, Conflict Free Sourcing Initiative and Department Of Commerce to determine the validity of SORs information provided on CMRT. If SORs cannot be validated through authenticated lists, GreenSoft team monitor changes to legislation, gather accurate updates and contact the SORs to obtain proof of legitimacy.

“It has been GreenSoft’s mission from the start to simplify the compliance process and handle the leg work for OEMs so they can focus on their core business,” says Larry Yen, President of GreenSoft Technology.

GreenSoft Technology provides CMRT data gathering, validation and review for Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiries (RCOIs), with the additional service of smelter verification.
