Hybrid Cloud Computing and AI: The Future Blend
For several years, cloud computing has been permeating every facet of online activity, and the demand continues to flourish as business adoption grows and vendors seek new revenue sources with their multi-cloud facilities. To support such fast-changing business environment, implementing a hybrid cloud management platform for managing multi-cloud environments has become a priority today. It enables an enterprise operation to unlock new levels of cloud capabilities with a healthy dose of software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service subscriptions.

Businesses are transforming and are undergoing what many call it the fourth industrial revolution. Some examples of AI services in a hybrid cloud environment would be Amazon’s Deep Scalable Sparse Tensor Network Engine (DSSTNE) and Google’s Tenssor Flow. Both drives customer’s recommendation capabilities, such as suggesting the kind of books one may like to read or movies one may add to their wish list. Likewise, Watson Developer Cloud by IBM enables developers to provide its Watson AI engine as an analytics cloud service. IBM states that “the fusion of AI and cloud computing promises to be both a source of innovation and a means to accelerate change.”
What Hybrid Cloud and AI Together can solve?
Presently, hybrid cloud computing solves the two largest hurdles for AI in the enterprise; abundant, affordable computing, and a channel to leverage large volumes of data. For example, in the transportation industry, companies such as FedEx and UPS always strive to figure out the most cost-effective and efficient way to deliver the scads of packages to delivery centers, and finally to the customers. The vehicles need to keep moving without creating gridlocks; it is only possible if you have real-time traffic information for routes.
AI, along with hybrid cloud, will help transport companies to calculate and navigate the fastest routes to deliver those packages. Additionally, IoT and big data analytics can tell how to fit the maximum number of packages in a delivery van.
Hybrid cloud adoption is an effective strategy, and will always be a good idea to assist IT decision makers around a wide variety of businesses. 2016 was the year of multi-cloud and next two years is going to be about managing them; AI is expected to burgeon even more rapidly into the enterprise. Humans, unequivocally, play a critical role in continuous enhancements for the performance of ‘Thinking Machines.’ Their actions in response with workloads in the best possible place suit business needs and provide peak performance. Given the recent developments, several IT players, including today’s top IT companies, are heavily investing in this space—influencing and inspiring a new wave of cloud computing platforms.
