IBM, Nvidia, Mellanox Together Launch OpenPower Design Centre to Target HPC Apps
FREMONT, CA: IBM, Nvidia and Mellanoxjoines forces for yet another OpenPower design centre in Europe targeting development of high performance computing (HPC) apps based on the open source Power architecture.
IBM, Nvidia and Mellanox co founded the OpenPOWER Foundation, in 2013 as an open technical community based on the POWER architecture, enabling collaborative development, opportunity for member differentiation and industry growth. The technical experts from the 3 companies will jointly develop applications on OpenPower architecture taking into advantage technologies like IBM Power CPUs, Nvidia’s Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform and Mellanox InfiniBand networking solution.
The new venture not only enhances the development of HPC software but also open new opportunities for software developers to learn advanced skills and gain new experience in HPC.
“Teaming with Nvidia and Mellanox, the centre will allow us to leverage the strengths of each of our companies to extend innovation and bring higher value to our customers around the world,” says Dave Turek, IBM’s Vice President of HPC Market Engagement.
