IIJ Aims Economical Boom Enrolling NFV Using VMware Platform
PALO ALTO, CA: VMware, cloud infrastructure and business mobility provider announces VMware vCloud for Network Function Virtualization (NFV) platform to enhance a new Network Function Virtualization (NFC) virtual CPE (vCPE) service for Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ).
NFV radically transforms the business by lowering costs and enabling rapid service. It provides a single, horizontal cloud platform capable of sharing a single pool of compute, network and storage resources across multiple vendors’ Virtual Network Functions (VNFs).
This integration of VMware will boost IIJ and transform the economics of CPE based services by transitioning to NFV platform. It will be working with VMware professional services to integrate with VMware vSphere and VMware NSX using open source APIs. Also, IIJ’s impending release of “IIJ Omnibus Service” will see the inclusion of its proprietary SEIL series of high-performance physical appliances like routers and VPN gateway services to business customers.
“IIJ has fully embraced NFV in a way that will allow sustained differentiation in a highly competitive market,” says Shekar Ayyar, Corporate Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development, and General Manager, Telco NFV Group, VMware. “They are creating a single horizontal platform that will not only allow the onboarding of their own new VF today, but provide choice to IIJ for the addition of best in class VNFs from external vendors and developers as service needs evolve.”
NFV platform supports Openstack to produce ubiquitous Open source cloud computing environment that will meet the needs of public and private clouds regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable. It assists nearly 40 different VNFs from more than 30 vendors. It features multi-threading on the same unified platform for the cloud.
With the help of this technology Communication Service Provider (CSPs) can avail NFV solutions into production on a proven platform to enhance the ability to drive sustainable cost reductions and faster time to market with new and differentiated services.
