ikeGPS and SPIDA Software Collaborate to Provide a Comprehensive Solution for Resourceful Data Collection

FREMONT, CA: In order to make best use of data for smart energy consumption, ikeGPS, a provider of software solutions for measuring and modeling assets, and SPIDA Software, a provider of comprehensive solutions that streamline utility engineering and business processes, have joined hands to offer direct integration between pole data collection solution GE MapSight and structural analysis software SPIDACalc, which creates a field-to-finish solution for the collection, design and analysis of utility poles.

The partnership enables SPIDACalc users to set up data collection forms for the MapSight device based on their SPIDACalc v6.1 design properties and requirements. Once the pole measurement data is collected with MapSight, it can thereafter be exported to SPIDACalc software for an inclusive pole loading analysis.

SPIDACalc uses its nonlinear calculation engine to perform comprehensive pole loading, pole strength and guying analyses. MapSight solution, on the other hand, integrates a laser rangefinder, submeter GPS, digital camera and compass all into one ruggedized device. It allows for the collection of target location, distance, pole height and span length, and angle measurements within the single instrument and produces a measurable image, known as TrueSize. This enables users to calculate and label pole attachment measurements within the image.
