FREMONT, CA: Infortrend Technology, the industry-leading enterprise storage provider, implements RDMAfor internal networks of EonStor CS scale-out NAS to scale the overall cluster performance. Among the applications that can completely take advantage of the technology, big data analysis, parallel high-performance computing (HPC), and machine learning exist.

EonStor CSis a scale-out NAS system. By adding more CS nodes, firms can get high performance, and high capacity cluster systems with up to 100+ Gbps Read/Write speed and more than 100PB of storage for future data growth demands. The scale-out expansion provides an easier and more cost-effective way of managing vast data while mitigating consequent performance bottlenecks. CS also makes it easy to manage data by integrating data from all nodes into one cluster system.

“Enterprises can now experience higher performance gains and lowered I/O latency of EonStor CS scale-out NAS cluster. RDMAallows to bypass CPU and releaseits resources for applications requiring high IOPS and HPC processing massive amounts of data,” says Frank Lee, Senior Director of Product Planning.

As a cluster system, CS nodes harness the internal network for nodes intercommunication. Infortrend deploys Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) for cluster internal network communications to significantly improve the CS cluster performance by up to 30 percent. To avoid data loss and ensure data protection, CS is developed with the support of node protection Erasure Code and Replica modes, which are also executed between nodes through an internal cluster network. With RDMA support, CS nodes’ CPU is offloaded from data copies, and this enables cluster nodes to perform data I/Oworkloads directly through the memory (‘zero-copy networking’ feature). With lowered CPU load, significantly shortened network latency, and higher bandwidth, the CS RDMA cluster system boosts network and host performance by leveraging its CPU for processing massive data I/O and increases IOPS.

Along with scaling the marketing efforts with their partners, Infortrend looks forward to building new relationships. “Infortrend works closely with customers to provide just-fit solutions in terms of the total cost of ownership and ROI,” explains Tony Chu, President at Infortrend.
