Innovative Fax over IP from Sagemcom Makes Document Sharing Easy
FREMONT, CA: With increased security and an improved user experience, Sagemcom, a provider of secure document exchange solutions, releases version 8.0 of XMediusFAX, a Fax over Internet Protocol (FoIP) solution.
FoIP is a software-based technology to send faxes. By eliminating the need for long-distance phone lines for fax purpose, the solution reduces cost of transmission and provides an efficient setup to business that can make use of their existing Internet bandwidth.
Sagemcom’s XMediusFAX supports the secure and standardized T.38 Fax-over-IP and G.711 Fax Pass-Through protocols. It provides users with a simple way to send and receive faxes from a wide range of communication tools, including desktop and email clients, web-browser interfaces, MFPs, and mobile devices.
In FoIP, the fax information is transmitted as IP packets over the internet in place of analog signals used while transmitting via phone lines. IP packets are nothing but a chunk of data organized in a way that lets Internet routers and destination machines understand and decode what is there inside it.
To make fax transmission over the internet more secure, Sagemcoma enriches the new version with a mobile app optimized for iPad and iPhone. Now through this app, users will be able to send faxes, take a perfect shot of their sensitive information after signing it from anywhere and at any time.
The wagon of improvement in XMediusFAX version 8.0 moves ahead with the addition of fax deletion option. Using this feature, users will be able to immediately delete faxes after its delivery which will help the organization to adhere to its strict securities pertaining to data management. Strengthening organization’s security, the 8.0 version will filter out which user can download which faxes. Through an event log tab, the solution will not only track of faxes but also make it easy for enterprises to monitor all system events and user or administrator actions related to a single fax. By enabling users to generate a complete audit log report, XMediusFAX provides detailed traceability record to enhance security levels.
For improving customer experience in using the FoIP solution, the company introduces a built-in viewer in the Web client to allow users view faxes directly in their browsers without the need for downloading files. To get the printing work done, users can configure different remote printers such as HP ePrint, Xerox Mobile Print, Google Cloud print and any other printers.
The Outbound SMS Relaying Service empowers XMediusFAX to give more flexibility in the preferred format the organization wants to securely send notifications and messages. User can link their external SMS account to XMediusFAX and send SMS messages by email. The shared messages are then converted and relayed by the XMediusFAX Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) gateway to user’s external SMS provider who finally delivers the messages to the intended recipients. For industries such as healthcare and banking, where there is the need for transmitting many short notifications, this feature is very useful.
"Innovation is at the absolute core of what we do. We uphold this commitment by constantly advancing and enhancing our secure document exchange solutions based on our customers' ever changing needs. Innovation must also come with stability and robustness, and XMediusFAX 8.0 is a perfect combination of features that enhance the user experience and improve security and performance," says Jean Champagne, General Manager of the Enterprise Solutions Department, Sagemcom Documents.
