Inphi Introduces ColorZ: A Game Changing Solution in Data Center Interconnects
SANTA CLARA, CA: Inphi, a high-speed connectivity solutions provider has introduced a 100G DWDM solution “ColorZ” for 80km long Data Center Interconnects (DCI) that is a first of its kind in the silicon photonics industry. ColorZ provides a bandwidth of up to 4Tb/s in a single fiber and allows all data centers in 80km range to connect and work like one data center. This interconnection utilizes the advanced functionalities of Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM4) signaling. ColorZ works as a missing link that provides complete 100G connectivity throughout the cloud.
The expansion of e-commerce, social networking, big data and cloud computing is urging the bandwidth demand among the data centers. This increase in bandwidth demand encourages the operators of the data centers to install low latency, low power and high-density DWDM links to connect various data centers associated in 80km range. Some part of the 80km links are still dependent on the 10G DWDM due to unavailability of 100G DWDM in the standard QSFP28 form factor in the industry. Beginning from this year, major data centers in the cloud space are supposed to install 100G for its routing and switching needs, therefore, it increases the demand for 100G connectivity among the data centers at more extent. Based on a report by ACG research, the global market share of optical DCI will expand from $1.1 billion to $4.7 billion in a period of 2014-19 with an annual growth rate of 44.9%.
