Below are a few tips that parents can consider doing to employ digital wellness at home.
Build a Brand
Parents can help children by building their brand, and the way to get the branding done is by asking questions on their child’s interests, the kind of person the kid wants to be known as, and how they can showcase their investment on a webpage or social media platform. The answers to such questions must align with every online post that the children make because, despite the change in the goals, consistency should be the key.
Watch Children’s Step
Young adults today like to share pictures and details of everything they have been up to in the course of their day. The problem with excessive sharing of digital information is that children end up distributing too much data and in the process; they leave an extensive digital footprint. It is impossible to delete a digital footprint, and over-sharing of information can harm children in the future. A solution to restrict giving out more information is to review the privacy setting of the tools that the kids’ access, particularly the social media platforms. Children should be made aware of the kind of posts that may be hurtful for them in the future.

To become a digital citizen, it is essential that one should be well-informed and have excellent internet skills. Parents can teach their children to be good digital citizens with the help of foundational skills at home by teaching them to avoid or take active steps against harassment and bullying, and make them aware that not everything on the internet is accurate.
