Kontron Integrates with Keepixo to Provide Robust OTT Transcoding
LAS VEGAS, NV: Kontron, an Embedded Computing Technology provider collaborates with Keepixo, a software based head-end solutions to launch a new high density OTT transcoding solutions. The solution combines SYMKLOUD series of converged infrastructure platform and Keepixo’S Genova software suite for OTT services.
This new integrated solution uses CPU architectures with on-chip graphics processing acceleration in transcoding around 144 HD channels. The channels are transcoded in 2 rack units and consumes less than 8W per service. The high density video ensures best in class video quality and supports broadcast features including popular subtitle, closed caption formats and OTT streaming protocols.
Genova Live is virtualized software designed for transcoding the existing live TV services to H.264 or HEVC. The modular architecture provides robust encoding on a single server, or private cloud such as OpenStack. It also integrates seamlessly within existing content processing workflows and can be remotely managed and monitored. Genova Mosaic is designed for creating a configurable live mosaic page. The software is used for channel browsing in live EPG for monitoring applications. The Genova File encodes existing VOD assets to H.264 or HEVC, up to 4K UHD. In addition, Genova Origin enables Start-Over TV and Time-Shift.
SYMKCLOUD unifies high density compute, storage and redundant network switches in an ultra-scalable, compact footprint. The secure and scalable cloud platform addresses latency and poor scalability of cloud transcoding infrastructure. SKYMCLOUD is designed to transform and simplify the way network equipment and cloud service providers deploy web-based, machine-to-machine, and mobile applications in varied cloud environments.
“The explosive growth of Internet video traffic has put pressure on video transcoding infrastructures to optimize bandwidth and power consumption. OTT service providers increasingly need high density transcoding solutions to control their cost of operations. Thanks to our collaboration with Kontron, we can offer a platform that addresses our customers’ needs for density and power per transcoded service while meeting professional grade service level,” said Jerome Blanc, COO, Keepixo.
