SAN JOSE, CA: Focusing on Security, Telecom and NFV applications; Lanner Electronics, a universal hardware provider and Cavium, a semiconductor product provider have together introduced MR-810 platform powered by Cavium’s 64-bit ARMv8 ThunderXproduct family.

Cavium’s ThunderX product line provides64-bit ARMv8 Data Center & Cloud Processors, contributing high level of integration and industry SoC performance. In addition it features custom cores, single and dual socket configurations, high memory bandwidth, large memory capacity, integrated hardware accelerators, fully virtualized core and IO, scalable Ethernet fabric and custom rich I/O’s which performs scalable productivity per dollar and watt. The ThunderX family includes multiple Workload Optimized SKUs that allow servers & appliances to be optimized for compute, storage, network, and secure compute workloads in the cloud. The ThunderX processor family is fully compliant with ARMv8 architecture.

“ThunderX ARMv8 CPUs were designed to deliver best-in-class performance and TCO for targeted workloads,” said Steve Klinger, GM, Infrastructure Processor Group, Cavium.

Lanner Electronics provides a wide array of platforms ranging from Network Computing, Embedded Applications, Vehicle Computing and Industrial Communication market segments. Two ThunderX processors are incorporated by Lanner MR-810 secure networking platform via dual socket configuration. It offers numerous configurable 10GbE, 40GbE, copper and fiber network interfaces; designed to meet high network performance standard. It has in-built hardware accelerators for packet processing, deep packet inspection and security in ThunderX SoC. Additionally, MR-810 benefits are integrated by 10GBE/40GBE network to provide broad networking and telecom applications range like enterprise firewalls, cyber security, WAN optimization and Network function virtualization (NFV).

Terence Chou, Network Computing Product Division Head, Lanner Electronics stated, “Cavium’s ThunderX workload optimized SoCs provide an ideal building block for Lanner to enable optimized platforms for specific networking and security workloads. We expect MR-810 to deliver significant benefits in performance and TCO for Lanner customers, giving them increased ROI and competitive advantage.”
