Launchpad by Amazon, a Marketing Portal for Startups

FREMONT, CA: Amazon offers an online portal for startups to “launch, market and distribute” their goods under the umbrella of Amazon Launchpad. It is specially designed for new companies to share their stories and products and get access to the millions of customers of the Amazon retail, reports Ingrid lunden, TechCrunch.

Amazon has initiated this portal by partnering with more than 25 venture capital firms which include Indiegogo, Y Combinator, and Andreessen Horowitz. However, the startups that are not affiliated with these partners can also access Amazon Launchpad. Amazon says, "With Amazon Launchpad, startups can overcome many of the challenges associated with launching new products by using Amazon’s retail expertise and infrastructure to create awareness and drive sales."

Amazon Launchpad will not only boost the sales of new companies but also will help in brand development, global expansion and most importantly customer reach. Currently Launchpad features more than 200 products from either new companies or lesser known products. Soma Sustainable Pitcher and Plant-based Water Filter, Rumpl High performance Indoor/Outdoor Blanket, Casper Mattress and eero Home Wi-Fi System to name a few. Registered startups will a get a page of their own where they can put up images, videos and product details.

Launchpad has entered the market with many competitors like Daily Grommet, Silkfair, Froommerce and Bigcommerce. Many of these do not provide all the features like selling as well as shipping under a single roof (like shopify) or might charge a transaction fee (like bigcommerce) while Launchpad provides selling, marketing and shipping and also provides free delivery to its Amazon Prime customers.
