FREMONT, CA: LTD Broadband commended the Federal Communications Commission for managing a successful Phase I Rural Development Opportunity Fund auction. The auction was the initial stage in offering broadband to millions of Americans who still do not have a dependable voice and high-speed internet facilities.
"We look forward to deploying our high-capacity, low-latency, and highly-scalable broadband network," said Corey Hauer, CEO of LTD Broadband, which secured $1.3 billion of the $9.2 billion in Phase I awards.
The RDOF auction offers to fund internet and voice service companies who can develop the fastest, highly dependable, and cost-efficient networks in rural areas over the next few years. LTD's technology will spread over 500,000 homes and business in 15 states, which includes Calif., Colo., Iowa, Ill., Ind., Kan., Minn., Mo., N.D., Neb., Ohio, Okla., S.D., Texas, and Wis. Therefore, due to the RDOF program, LTD will have the opportunity to increase the growth of its fiber-optic internet offerings to underserved areas in rural America.
The auction is part of a years-long FCC movement to increase broadband internet access across the United States. It is expected that more funding will be available in future phases that can target the areas that still lack reliable internet.
LTD Broadband was established in 2011 with the motive of bringing dependable and affordable broadband to rural areas. Since then, the company has expanded its service to both non-rural and rural areas by providing fiber-optic service and fixed wireless service that perform comparably to fiber/cable at competitive rates. Today, they have almost 2,100 tower sites in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, covering over 50,000 square miles. LTD Broadband is the fourth largest fixed-wireless WISP in the U.S. LTD Broadband believes that sensibly priced fiber optics, high-capacity, and low latency fixed-wireless are the future of America's broadband infrastructure, and they will continue to invest in the local communities to bring better quality broadband to each home, business, and farm.
