FREMONT, CA: As IIoT beckons the industrial production innovation and high performance computing permeates research and development across industry verticals, stronger computing platforms are witnessing an increasing demand. To that end, ADLINK Technology, provider of embedded and industrial cloud-based services, has recently introduced its first COM Express Basic Size Type 6 module incorporating the latest Intel Xeon E3-1200 processor and Intel Core i7 processor with Intel QM87 Chipset.

With enhanced graphics and processing performance compared to previous generation processors, the Express-BL is well suited for carrier-grade edge device solutions that demand intense graphics performance and multitasking capabilities in a space-constrained environment, such as industrial cloud and media servers performing real-time video transcoding for content delivery networks (CDNs), network functions virtualization (NFV), and medical imaging applications.

The new Express-BL with Intel Iris Pro Graphics engine delivers up to 1.4 times more video encode/decode/transcode performance for media server streaming, and up to 1.8x more 3D graphics performance with CPU/GPU co-processing capability under OpenCL for medical applications such as endoscopy, MRI, CT/X-ray and ultrasound.

The COM Express module-on-carrier concept enables customers to seamlessly upgrade their existing designs to extend current platform life cycles and leverage the performance and power consumption improvements of Intel’s 14nm process technology, with lower development costs and reduced time to market.

Express-BL utilizes its integrated GPU as a coprocessor with the use of an OpenCL software layer for ultra-high resolution ultrasound systems requiring intensive 3D imaging calculations. It also has the capacity to support up to 32GB of dual channel DDR3L memory at 1600MHz.

In addition to the aforementioned features, Express-BL also provides rich, high-bandwidth I/O, including one PCI Express x16, seven PCI Express x1, Gigabit Ethernet, four SATA 6 Gb/s, four USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0. A wide range of operating systems is supported, including Linux, Windows 7 and 8.1 Update, Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry and VxWorks.

Powered with ADLINK’s Smart Embedded Management Agent (SEMA), Express-BL provides access to detailed system activities at the device level, including temperature, voltage, power consumption and other key information, and allows operators to identify inefficiencies and malfunctions in real-time, hence, it prevents failures and minimizing downtime.

ADLINK's SEMA-equipped devices connect easily to SEMA Cloud solution to enable remote monitoring, autonomous status analysis, custom data collection and initiation of appropriate actions. All collected data can be accessed from any place, at any time through encrypted data connection.
