MicroChip Integrates Intel EPID for Complete IoT Security
CHANLER, AZ: Microchip Technology, provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal analog and Flash-IP solutions collaborates with Intel to integrate Intel’s Enahnced Privacy ID (Intel EPID) technology into its products. The inclusion of EPID support in Microchip products will provide designers interoperability with Intel devices, gateways and servers.
Intel EPID is a sophisticated, proven approach to device authentication that gives users both security and privacy on the on-ramp to the internet of Things (IoT). Intel’s EPID hardware-enforced integrity offers fixed devices identity, which is compatible with existing ISO and TCG standards and secures data based on anonymity technology, allowing devices to be verified in group rather than by its individual private key.
"Collaborating with Intel to integrate its proven Intel EPID technology demonstrates Microchip's steadfast commitment to providing the very best IoT solutions, by working to enable designers with the safe and secure interoperation of their 'things' with Intel's devices, gateways and servers,” says Ian Harris, vice president of Microchip's Computing Products Group.
Intel EPID protects personally identifiable information in connected devices. It offers an extra layer of security in case of data security incident by providing system managers an easy way to manage group and device permissions in IoT deployments.
