Microsoft Announces Cortana App for Android and Apple Devices
FREMONT, CA: Microsoft brings its latest Windows 10 closer to the other leading computing platforms with the announcement of Phone Companion app. Its popular digital assistant, Cortana, will soon be available on Android and Apple platforms.
Cortana, a voice enabled digital personal assistant from Microsoft, is all set for a debut on competitor’s mobile operating system. Select Windows functionality will be made available on Android and iPhones using Phone companion app, which will offer users an optimal and seamless experience.
When the app is launched on Windows 10 PC, it prompts users to select the type of phone they use. Windows phone will work smoothly with Phone Companion app, while Android and iPhones will have to follow few simple steps to get the right apps on the phone to make it work on unified Windows software ecosystem. Cortana is being built into Windows 10 OS to facilitate web search, setting reminders and initiate other Windows related tasks. Similarly, forthcoming music app update will allow users to access playlist and Office documents and OneNote notebook will be in sync across devices.
“You'll be able to track a flight using Cortana on both your phone and your PC, and get the updates on the device that you're on so you don't miss anything," stated Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Operating Systems Group. "Everything in Cortana's Notebook will show up across all your devices and any changes you make on one device will be reflected when you use Cortana on any of your other devices."
